The Valuers Council considers and advocates the interests of property valuers as a professional community within the Property Institute.
The Council of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers (NZIV) as established by the Valuers Act 1948 has dual roles:
- The statutory and separate legal entity role of the NZIV Council under the Act.
- The role of the Valuers Council within the Property Institute.
